A Cataract is the clouding of the lens inside the eye, which leads to a decrease in vision. It most commonly occurs due to aging, as lens proteins denature and degrade over time. Environmental factors, such as exposure to UV, can accelerate the formation of cataracts.
LASIK (Laser in Situ Keratomileusis) is by far the most common type of laser eye surgery performed – around 90% of patients who seek out laser vision correction will have this procedure, which uses a femtosecond laser to create a hinged Flap.
Argon laser treatment can be used to treat a number of eye conditions including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and some retinal holes and tears. It can also be used to prevent an eye condition from getting worse, and sometimes to cure it.
A Yag capsulotomy is a special laser treatment used to improve your vision aftercataract surgery. It is a simple, commonly performed procedure which is very safe. During your cataract operation, the natural lens inside your eye that had become cloudy was removed.
Astigmatism is a condition where one or both eyes are not spherical like a soccer ball, but are shaped more like a rugby ball. The irregular shape does not allow light entering the eye to focus at a single point at the retina.
Also known as farsightedness or long-sightedness, hyperopia is a condition where objects in the distance are seen more clearly than those up close.
Myopia, also known as near-sightedness or short-sightedness, is extremely common. If you’re nearsighted, you’ll experience difficulty seeing objects in the distance – they will appear fuzzy, or blurry.
We perform two main types of laser surgery to treat glaucoma. They help aqueous drain from the eye. These procedures are usually done in the ophthalmologist’s office or an outpatient surgery center.
Crossed eyes (or strabismus) occur when a person’s eyes are not able to align on the same point at the same time, and appear to be misaligned or pointed in different directions.
